(FEDERALSBURG, MD) – State and local police are searching for several suspects believed to have been involved in the murder of a Caroline County man at his home last night. This is the second murder in the last couple of months for the sleepy Eastern Shore County that has been at the crossroads of drug dealing between Baltimore and Delaware.

The victim is identified as Travon L. Farrow, 23, of the 200-block of Morris Avenue, Federalsburg, Md. Farrow was pronounced dead last night at the Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford, Delaware.

Shortly after 6:30 p.m. yesterday, officers from the Federalsburg Police Department responded to a call for a shooting at the victim’s residence. Responding officers found the victim lying inside his home with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the upper torso. EMS personnel responded and transported the victim to the hospital. Assistance was requested from the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit and Criminal Enforcement Division investigators.

The preliminary investigation indicates that shortly before 6:30 p.m. yesterday, the victim and his wife were inside their home with their two children, when a knock was heard at the front door. When the victim asked who was there, two suspects entered the residence. The two suspects were described as wearing masks and hooded sweatshirts.

The suspects demanded the victim give them everything he had. A gunshot was heard after which suspects apparently searched part of the residence before leaving. The victim’s children were sleeping and neither they nor his wife were injured.

Further investigation indicates several suspects, described as African American males, may have been involved. A police K-9 search of the area tracked away from the residence to the east between Morris and Central avenues. The track was lost near a convenience store at the intersection of Central and South Main streets. During the track, police found a mask fitting the description of one worn by a suspect. A gun has not been recovered.

The victim’s body was transported to the medical examiner’s office in Wilmington, Delaware. An autopsy is expected to be conducted tomorrow.

Maryland State Police crime scene technicians have processed the scene for evidence. Investigators have conducted numerous interviews throughout the night. The search for the suspects is continuing.

In addition to crime scene technicians, the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit has been assisted by the State Police Criminal Enforcement Division and troopers from the Easton Barrack. Also assisting are the Caroline County Sheriff’s Office Patrol/Investigation Section, Federalsburg Volunteer Fire Department, Caroline County Department of Emergency Services, Caroline County Drug Task Force and Caroline County Sheriff’s Office K-9.

Anyone with information about this murder, or who may have seen the suspects in the area, is urged to contact Maryland State Police immediately at 410-819-4747. Callers may remain confidential.
