Eastern Shore Police Beat: driver who drove while suspended given personal recognizance; John Ellsworth Lyon Jr charged with DUI

  • Driver had his Lyon's share of booze before driving SALISBURY, MD. Wicomico Sheriff Mike Lewis reports that on 15 October 2014 at 12:01 PM, a deputy stopped to check on an individual stopped on the side of the road in the 8000 block of Hickory Mill Rd. Upon approaching the operator, John Ellsworth Lyon Jr., 68, of Salisbury, Md., the deputy observed indications that led the deputy to surmise that Lyon was under the influence of alcohol. The deputy also observed that while Lyon was sitting behind the wheel, the engine was also on. Following the conclusion of sobriety testing, the deputy placed Lyon under arrest for DUI. Lyon was processed at the Sheriff’s Office which included the administration of a breath test. Lyon was released upon the issuance of citations.
Lauren Holland Duffy

Wicomico Sheriff’s Office reports that on 14 Oct 2014 at 8:41 AM a deputy arrested Lauren Holland Duffy, 36 of Salisbury,on an outstanding District Court Bench Warrant. The warrant was issued back in July after Duffy failed to appear for a driving while suspended case. Duffy was released by the District Court Commissioner on Personal Recognizance.

2.  On 14 Oct 2014 at 2:24 PM a deputy arrested April Jane Newkirk, 21 of Fruitland, MD, on an outstanding District Court Bench Warrant. Newkirk was being sought on a District Court Bench Warrant that had been issued back in September after she failed to appear for a Theft and CDS case. Newkirk was released on $10,000.00 unsecured bond by the District Court Commissioner.

3.  On 15 Oct 2014 at 10:00 AM a deputy arrested Thomas Francis Keen, Jr., 59 of Salisbury, on an outstanding Circuit Court Bench Warrant. The warrant was issued after Keen violated the conditions of his probation following a conviction in a CDS Possession with the Intent to Distribute case. Keen was detained without bond pending an appearance in front of a Circuit Court Judge.

4.  On 14 Oct 2014 at 9:20 PM, a deputy charged Lillian Marlene Saldana, 56 of Salisbury, following her extradition back to Wicomico County from St. Louis County, MO. Saldana was facing charges connected with a felony theft at a local church. Saldana was released by the District Court Commissioner on $10,000.00un secured bond.

5.  On 15 Oct 2014 at 11:23 AM, a deputy arrested In Yang Pak, 62 of Salisbury, on an outstanding District Court bench Warrant. The warrant was issued after Pak failed to appear for a case where he had been charged with failing to properly record and report pawn transactions. The District Court Commissioner released Pak on Personal Recognizance.

HELL HATH NO FURY….

Suspect: Amy Lynn Daniels, 26, Parsonsburg, MD
Wicomico Sheriff’s Office reports that on 15 October 2014 at 9:40 PM, a deputy arrested Amy Daniels in connection with a reported assault. According to the victim, it is alleged that Daniels assaulted the victim with an umbrella and attempted to push him down a flight of stairs. Daniels is also accused of throwing a glass candle and a glass bottle at the victim.  Upon arrest, Daniels was transported to the Central Booking Unit where she was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. After an initial appearance, the Commissioner detained Daniels in the Detention Center in lieu of $15,000.00 bond.
Charges: Assault 2nd Degree and  Reckless Endangerment
