<h3><a href="http://pgpolice.blogspot.com/2014/10/pgpd-honors-patrol-officers-of-month.html">PGPD Honors Patrol Officers of the Month</a></h3>
<p>Right now, PGPD patrol officers are fanned out across the county, serving and protecting the residents of Prince George’s County. Too often, their good work goes unnoticed. Here are the Patrol Officers of the Month for August.</p>
<p><strong>District I Patrol Officer of the Month</strong></p>

<p><strong>Corporal Edward Miles</strong></p>
<p>On August 7, 2014, Corporal Edward Miles was called to 38<sup>th</sup> Avenue in Cottage City for the report of a robbery. The victim advised he had been robbed at gunpoint by two suspects. The suspects then sped away in a white pickup truck. Corporal Miles immediately broadcast a lookout for the suspects. While searching the area, Corporal Miles spotted the suspects’ truck. The patrol officer caught up to it a short distance later. The suspects bailed out of the pickup truck, but Corporal Miles quickly caught one of them. A handgun was recovered. During a search of the truck, the patrol officer found property belonging to the robbery victim.</p>

<p><strong>Police Officer Carlos Galarza</strong></p>
<p>On August 20, 2014, Police Officer First Class Jennifer Flloyd and Police Officer Carlos Galarza responded to Kingstead Court in Bowie for a robbery. The victim told the officers that the suspects had just robbed him of his cellphone and wallet and then sped away in a silver car. The patrol officers spotted a car matching the one driven by the suspects and conducted a traffic stop. Through investigative means, the three occupants were identified as the suspects and were arrested.</p>

<p><strong>Police Officer John Jacob</strong></p>
<p>On August 27, 2014, Police Officer First Class Shea Jefferson and Police Officer John Jacob responded to Stoney Meadow Drive for an armed robbery. When they arrived, they immediately obtained a lookout for the suspects who had just confronted the victim with a handgun and demanded his cash and personal belongings. While other officers stayed with the victim, POFC Jefferson and Officer Jacob began to search for the suspects. During the canvass, individuals who matched the suspect description were spotted nearby. Through investigative means, the suspects were positively identified as the suspects who committed the robbery. With the assistance from the K9 section, the victim’s property and the weapon used in the robbery were located.</p>
<p><strong>District IV Patrol Officer of the Month</strong></p>

<p><strong>Police Officer Cedric Babineaux</strong></p>
<p>On August 15, 2014, Police Officer Cedric Babineaux responded to Vernon Way in Camp Springs for a drug complaint. When he arrived, he saw a large group crowded around several parked cars. As the patrol officer approached, several of those gathered began to flee the area. Officer Babineaux conducted a stop on one of the people and recovered drugs inside the car. During this time, two people walked out of an abandoned house. A search of the home revealed 376 grams of marijuana, 37 grams of powder cocaine, ecstasy pills, packaged prescription pills, and a .45 caliber handgun. A shotgun was found behind another abandoned home. A total of four vehicles were impounded. Animal Control was also contacted to rescue several dogs. In addition to Officer Babineaux’s efforts on Vernon Way, in the month of August he made three adult felony arrests, three adult misdemeanor arrests, one misdemeanor drug arrest, three gun arrests, two warrant services, four recovered guns and recovered 450 grams of illegal drugs.</p>

<p>On August 9, 2014, Police Officer Andrew Williams responded to Chesterfield Drive in Temple Hills for the report of a man chasing a woman with a knife. The woman had called police and advised that her bother had a kitchen knife and was threatening to kill her and burn down the house. Officer Williams quickly arrived on the scene and saw a man yelling profanities and displaying erratic behavior. He began calmly speaking with the man to defuse the situation. Officer Williams was able to single-handedly take the man into custody without incident.</p>

<p><strong>Police Officer Lisa Whitlow</strong></p>
<p>On August 8, 2014, Police Officer Lisa Whitlow conducted a traffic stop on Laurel Bowie Road in Laurel. As Officer Whitlow approached, she smelled a strong odor of suspected marijuana coming from inside the car. The driver consented to a search. During the search, Officer Whitlow discovered a large black plastic bag under the passenger seat containing 525 grams of marijuana, five grams of suspected cocaine, more than $500 in cash and a digital scale. The driver was arrested.</p>
