Frederick Police Detectives Make Arrest in Armed Home Invasion

FREDERICK, MD. According to Frederick Police on 7/15/14, at approximately 2216 hours, Frederick Police officers and detectives responded to the 1000 block of Columbine Dr. for an armed home invasion.
Officers located a male and female victim inside of their apartment. The victims said they heard a knock at the door, and when the male victim answered, he was pulled out of his apartment at gunpoint by two black male suspects. One of the suspects displayed a handgun.
The suspects then went inside the apartment and threatened the female victim. The suspects fled from the apartment after they saw the female trying to hold back the couple’s large dog. Through the course of the investigation it was determined the male victim knew one of the suspects, and this is not believed to be a random event. A short time later, the suspect was apprehended at his home.
The suspect was identified as: Omari Claude Samms B/M, 01/11/1987 400 Block Heather Ridge Dr. Frederick, MD 21701
Samms was taken to FCADC and charged with the following: • 1st degree assault • 2nd degree assault • 1st degree burglary • 3rd degree burglary • 4th degree burglary The second suspect in this case is unknown at this time.
