Guns and drugs in the wilds of Anne Arundel

  • Anne Arundel County Police report that on May 14, 2014 at approximately 7:oo pm, detectives from Northern District’s Tactical Narcotics Team (TNT) and Tactical Patrol Unit (TPU) were working in an undercover capacity in the area of Church Street, in the Brooklyn area. While in the area, undercover TPU detectives made contact with two individuals in the area of Gischel and Church Streets. After a search of the individuals, detectives recovered a sawed-off 20 gauge Western Field Shot gun and (18) 20 gauge Remington shot gun shells.

– Did possess a short barreled shotgun

– Did possess shot gun after being convicted of felony

– Did illegally possess ammunition

On May 14, 2014, at approximately 11:00 p.m., detectives from the Northern District Tactical Patrol Unit (TPU) were conducting undercover surveillance in the Freetown area in reference to neighborhood complaints of drug activity.  While conducting surveillance, detectives observed subjects conduct a hand to hand drug transaction in the area of Freetown Road and Whitaker Road.  TPU detectives made contact with both subjects and placed them under arrest.

–  Distribution of CDS (crack cocaine)
On May 15, 2014, at approximately 1:25 a.m., an officer from Northern District Platoon 4 was on routine patrol and observed a vehicle exhibiting signs of possibly being operated by an impaired driver in the area of Crain Highway and Oak Manor Drive in Glen Burnie.
The officer initiated a traffic stop on a 2000 Mercury and made contact with the driver, learning that his Maryland drivers license was suspended. During the conversation, the officer detected the odor of fresh marijuana emanating from the vehicles interior. The driver was placed under arrest for the traffic charges and the vehicle was searched prior to towing. Recovered from the vehicles interior was nearly 699.58 grams of marijuana and packaging materials that would indicate the intent to distribute. The marijuana was seized, packaged and submitted to the drug laboratory for analysis. The suspect was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and drug paraphernalia charges.

Anne Arundel County Police say that on May 14, 2014, at approximately 6:10 p.m., officers from the Northern District responded to the 300 block of Oak Manor Drive in Glen Burnie for a reported home invasion robbery.
The 59-year-old female victim indicated she heard a noise outside of the apartment door and went to investigate. When she did, two male suspects pushed their way into the apartment and struck the victim with the door. As a result, the victim suffered minor injuries. The suspects immediately entered a bedroom and stole video game systems and games.  As the suspects fled the apartment, they pushed and kicked the elderly female victim out of the way to escape.
The 15-year-old victim knew the suspects as associates of his brother. Detectives established the names of the suspects and photographic arrays were constructed.  The victims identified the suspects, who were arrested. The investigation is ongoing, but this appears to be a targeted drug-related incident.
