<p><a href="https://www.the-chesapeake.com//wp-content/uploads/2013/08/Drugs-and-Loot.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1869" alt="Drugs and Loot" src="https://www.the-chesapeake.com//wp-content/uploads/2013/08/Drugs-and-Loot-300x267.jpg" width="300" height="267" /></a>(WJLA) &#8211;<strong> University of Maryland</strong> student and club ice hockey player <strong>Michael Mutryn</strong> attended his hockey team banquet on Saturday night. Law enforcement sources say the Potomac native and <strong>Churchill High School</strong> graduate spent the rest of the evening with his teammates.</p>

<p id="continue">But at approximately 3 p.m. on Easter Sunday, his roommate called 911 to report him unresponsive &#8212; and when officers arrived, they found the 23-year-old student dead on the scene.</p>
<p>&#8220;I feel very shocked about it, it&#8217;s always shocking to hear there are such things involved on campus,&#8221; said fellow student Jenny Lee.</p>
<p>Students tell us they are saddened to hear of Mutryn’s death, but they are also stunned to hear that in the student’s room in this off-campus student apartment building, police found <strong><em>two 9MM handguns, crack cocaine, the drug ecstasy</em></strong>, and <strong><em>hypodermic needles</em></strong>.</p>
<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s shocking when you hear about it, to think it&#8217;s right here,&#8221; said a stunned Tareq Zietoon.</p>
<p>Police believe Mutryn, who described himself online as a nutrition and fitness buff, is the latest victim in an <strong><em>epidemic of drug overdose deaths sweeping the region.</em></strong></p>
<p>His body is reportedly being taken to the medical examiner in Baltimore, where an autopsy will be conducted.
