The purpose of these checks was to ensure businesses, which sell alcohol, properly check identification to prevent the sale of alcohol to underage persons. </p>
<p>During the operation, twenty (20) businesses were checked with only one (1) violation. An employee of Light House Liquors located in Charlotte Hall, Maryland, sold an alcoholic beverage to a person under the age of twenty-one. The employee was issued a citation, which carries a possible $2,500.00 fine if convicted. The violation will be submitted to the St. Mary’s County Alcohol Beverage Board and a hearing will be conducted. The license holders for Light House Liquors will be required to appear. </p>
