<p><a href&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;www&period;the-chesapeake&period;com&sol;&sol;wp-content&sol;uploads&sol;2013&sol;09&sol;Al-Vinson&period;jpg"><img src&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;www&period;the-chesapeake&period;com&sol;&sol;wp-content&sol;uploads&sol;2013&sol;09&sol;Al-Vinson&period;jpg" alt&equals;"" title&equals;"Al Vinson" width&equals;"153" height&equals;"162" class&equals;"alignleft size-full wp-image-2830" &sol;><&sol;a>February 2&comma; 1931 &&num;8211&semi; September 10&comma; 2013<br &sol;>&NewLine;Services&colon;<br &sol;>&NewLine; Saturday&comma; September 21&comma; 2013<br &sol;>&NewLine;1&colon;00 PM<br &sol;>&NewLine;Life Celebration-VFW Post 2632 <&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Cemetery Services&colon;<br &sol;>&NewLine;Arlington National Cemetery at a Date to Be Determined <&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Senior Chief Petty Officer Alexander Lackey Vinson&comma; II&comma; USN &lpar;Ret&rpar;&comma; 82&comma; of California&comma; MD and formerly of Louisa&comma; KY passed away peacefully on September 10&comma; 2013 at St&period; Mary&&num;8217&semi;s Hospital in Leonardtown&comma; MD&comma; after fighting various different illnesses&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p> Al&comma; also known as Alex&comma; was born on February 2&comma; 1931 in Louisa&comma; KY&comma; son of the late Alexander Vinson and the late Mexie Carey Johns Vinson&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p> Al proudly served in the United States Navy for 28 Years and retired in 1978 as a Senior Chief&period; He also was employed by the Federal Government until his retirement in 1997 with NAWC-AD&period; Al then took a short stint away from military and worked as a limo driver&period; But his military roots were deep and he returned to work with Titan&sol;Semcor for 6 years where he finally retired to enjoy his time with his family and friends&period; Al was a member of the VFW and National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association &lpar;NARFEA&rpar;&period; Al enjoyed his traveling while in the Navy but once stationed at Patuxent Naval Air Station he decided this is where he wanted to make a home&period; He loved sharing his experiences on ships and aircraft with his greatest love being aircraft&period; Al was an avid Redskins fan&comma; loved to garden&comma; and cherished his memories of the time he spent growing up on a farm&period; He touched the lives and hearts of all his friends and family whom he loved dearly and he will be greatly missed&period; <&sol;p>&NewLine;<p> Al is survived by his loving wife of 18 years&comma; Sara Frances &&num;8220&semi;Fran&&num;8221&semi; Vinson&semi; sister&comma; Juanita Vinson Adams of Westminster&comma; MD&semi; nephew&comma; Olin L Adams&comma; III of Auburn&comma; AL&semi; grandson&comma; Jack Pridgen who he raised&semi; step sons&comma; Larry S&period; Shlemon &lpar;Denise&rpar; of Hollywood&comma; MD&comma; and Kenneth A&period; Shlemon of Irving&comma; TX&comma; grandchildren and great grandchildren&period; He is also survived by his extended family&comma; Rick Sandidge &lpar;Beth&rpar; of Port Republic&comma; MD&comma; Susie Owens of Louisville&comma; KY&comma; Bob Bailey&comma; Richard Bailey &lpar;Ann&rpar;&comma; Elizabeth Bryant&comma; and Mary Hart &lpar;Frank&rpar; all of Memphis&comma; TN&period; In addition to his parents&comma; Al was preceded in death by his daughter&comma; Cathy Vinson&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p> Family and friends will celebrate Al&&num;8217&semi;s life on Saturday&comma; September 21&comma; 2013 at 1&colon;00 PM at the VFW Post 2632 located at 23282 Three Notch Road&comma; California&comma; MD 20619&period; A private burial will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p> In lieu of flowers&comma; contributions may be made in Alexander Vinson&&num;8217&semi;s memory to&colon; NAS Patuxent River VFW Post 2632&comma; 23282 Three Notch Road&comma; P&period;O&period; Box 86&comma; California&comma; MD 20619&period; <&sol;p>&NewLine;<p> Condolences to the family may be made at www&period;brinsfieldfuneral&period;com<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p> Arrangements by the Brinsfield Funeral Home&comma; P&period;A&period;&comma; Leonardtown&comma; MD&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;
