One dead in boat collision on James River

<p> PORTSMOUTH&comma; Va&period; &lpar;Oct&period; 17&comma; 2010&rpar; &&num;8211&semi; Coast Guard and local agencies respond to a collision in the vicinity of the James River Bridge Sunday morning&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>At 9&colon;53 a&period;m&period; Coast Guard Sector Hampton Road watchstanders received word over channel 16 VHF-FM that a Sea Tow vessel with one person aboard&comma; and a 19-foot boat with two people aboard&comma; a man and a 13-year-old male&comma; had collided&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>A Coast Guard rescue boat crew from Station Portsmouth&comma; a Coast Guard rescue helicopter aircrew from Air Station Elizabeth City&comma; and Coast Guard Port Security Units responded to the incident alongside a Newport News Fire Department boat crew&comma; a Virginia Marine Resources Commission boat crew and a good Samaritan&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Newport News Fire department arrived on scene first&comma; transported the injured aboard and took them to Huntington Park in Newport News where they were transported to Riverside Regional Medical Center by Emergency Medical Service crews&period; The 13-year-old boy was pronounced dead at the hospital&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The 13-year-old boy&&num;8217&semi;s name is being withheld pending next of kin notification&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;
