<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Officer Sameer Khan spends countless hours in court. Why? Because he has a passion for removing drunk drivers from our roadways. Officer Khan joined our department in February of 2014 after spending over 3 years as an officer with the City of Falls Church Police Department. When he learned the county was starting a grant-funded DWI Enforcement Squad in December of 2016, he competed for a position and was selected to join the team. Several years ago, Officer Kha<span class="text_exposed_show">n<span style="font-size: 12pt;"> had a loved one who was involved in a DWI related crash. Ever since he has been dedicated to removing drunk drivers off the roadways.</span></span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Although Officer Khan has only been on the DWI Enforcement Squad for a year, he has the highest number of DWI arrests countywide. He has removed over 100 drunk drivers from our roadways. Officer Khan was recognized by the Washington Regional Alcohol Program in 2015 as well as the Mothers Against Drunk Driving in 2015 and 2016 for his dedication to removing drunk drivers from the roadways.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">In October of this year, Officer Khan responded to a lookout for a drunk driver in Centreville. Upon locating the man, he placed him under arrest. The man was a convicted felon and was in possession of ammunition. Through some good old-fashioned police work, Officer Khan and fellow officers removed eleven guns from the man’s home, three of which were reported stolen in Fairfax County. Not only do drunk driving arrests save lives on the roadway, but they also lead to safer communities.</span></p>
