<p><a href="https://www.the-chesapeake.com//wp-content/uploads/2014/04/DWI-Hit-Parade-dating-service.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-medium wp-image-3672" src="https://www.the-chesapeake.com//wp-content/uploads/2014/04/DWI-Hit-Parade-dating-service-267x300.jpg" alt="DWI Hit Parade dating service" width="267" height="300" /></a>The following persons have been arrested in 2014 by the Somerset County Sheriff’s deputies on DUI DWI charges:</p>
<p><strong>Natalie Whittaker of Princess Anne</strong>, arrested 5-31-14 for driving under the influence of alcohol, driving impaired by alcohol, driver giving false information to police, fleeing and eluding police, and multiple traffic infractions. Whittaker was released on signature pending court actions. The arrest was the result of an attempted traffic stop where Whittaker led deputies on a brief car chase, until she crashed her vehicle into a ditch in the area of Progress Lane, Princess Anne.</p>
<p>Only four days prior to the Somerset County DUI arrest, Whittaker was charged by Maryland State Trooper B. Pollmeier with DUI on Joseph Rd. at Brown Rd. in Wicomico County. In District Court on Aug. 27, 2014, Wicomico County States Attorney allowed her to pay a fine of $250 along with court costs and receive a probation before judgment.</p>
<p>On May 4, 2013, Whittaker was cited by Princess Anne Police Officer D. H. Adams with negligent driving and in a plea deal with the Somerset County States Attorney on March 13, 2014, she was fined $107. At the same time, a charge of DUI was dropped by Somerset States Attorney Daniel W. Powell. Whittaker was represented by the Public Defender (paid for by taxpayers).</p>
<p><strong>Paige Edward Conquest of Princess Anne</strong>, arrested 6-13-14 for driving under the influence of alcohol, and driving while impaired by alcohol. Conquest was released on signature pending court actions. Deputies investigated a suspicious vehicle that was parked in the parking area of Payne’s Carpets, Princess Anne with the engine running and headlights on. Deputies found Conquest fast asleep setting in the driver’s seat. Appearing in Somerset County District Court on Sept. 4, 2014, Conquest entered a guilty plea and received a plea deal from States Attorney Daniel W. Powell of a verdict of probation before judgment with a fine of $250, no jail time and supervised probation.</p>
<p><strong>Gerald Wayne Welch of Princess Anne</strong>, arrested on June 7, 2014 at 12:17 am for driving under the influence of alcohol, driving while impaired by alcohol, and a warning for not using headlights. Welch was released on signatures pending court actions. Somerset County States Attorney Daniel W. Powell entered into a plea agreement on Sept. 23, 2014 with Welch and his Public Defender (paid for by taxpayer funds) and a verdict of probation before judgment was agreed with a fine of $250 and court costs with no jail time.</p>
<p>Welch has had a number of assault charges on his record which were dropped; he has picked up various violations from Natural Resources Police along with the following:</p>
<p>Cited on June 27, 1997 for possession of undersized crabs by NRP Officer R. Mayles; Welch entered a guilty plea on Aug. 20, 1997 and was fined $70.00 in Worcester District Court.</p>
<p>Cited by NRP Officer Edward Frost for undersized crabs on May 21, 2007, Welch entered a guilty plea on July 18, 2007 and was fined $427.50 in Worcester District Court.</p>
<p>Cited by NRP Officer Edward Frost on April 6, 2010 for undersized crabs, Welch entered a guilty plea in Worcester County District Court and was fined $132.50.</p>

<p><strong>Tamela Lynn Wheatley of Salisbury,</strong> arrested 4-26-14 for possession of cocaine, possession with the intent to distribute cocaine, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Wheatley was later released on a $25,000 unsecured bond. The arrest was the result of a traffic stop conducted by deputies in the area of Hampden Ave, Princess Anne for a traffic violation. Deputies later recovered suspected powder cocaine, crack cocaine, and marijuana.</p>
<p>According to court records, the case has been continued as of Oct. 8, 2014.</p>
<p><strong>Jay Ferrell Jr. of Prince George County</strong>, arrested April 2, 2014 at 3:54 pm by Somerset Sheriff’s Dep. K. Goepfert for driving under the influence of alcohol, driving while impaired by alcohol, driving on a suspended driver’s license, and a repair order. The arrest was the result of a traffic stop conducted by deputies on Ocean Highway for an equipment violation. Ferrell was later released on citations pending court actions. Ferrell was found not guilty on all counts. He was represented by a Public Defender in Somerset District Court on May 15, 2014.</p>
<p><strong>Shaneka Carlisa Woolridge of Glenn Dale Maryland</strong> was arrested 3-2-14 for driving under the influence of alcohol, driving while impaired by alcohol, and driving in violation of license restrictions. Woolridge was released on citations pending court actions. The arrest was the result of a traffic stop conducted by deputies in the area of UMES Blvd, Princess Anne.</p>
<p><strong>William Dale Perdue of Princess Anne</strong>, arrested on Feb. 2, 2014 at 6:30 am by Dep. R. Redding for driving under the influence of alcohol, driving impaired by alcohol, driving on a suspended and revoked driver’s license, and driving without a license. Perdue was released on signature pending court actions. The arrest was the result of a traffic stop conducted by Deputies for a traffic violation in the Westover area.</p>
<p>In Somerset County Circuit Court on July 23, 2014, Perdue entered a guilty plea and was fined zero and sentenced to one year in jail with seven months and two days suspended. His actual jail time was set at 4 months and 28 days with work release authorized.</p>
<p>On Oct. 7, 2013, Perdue entered a guilty plea in Somerset District Court to driving without a license on May 25, 2013 when he was cited by Maryland State Trooper Paul Zimmerman and was fined nothing and sentenced to no jail time.</p>
<p><strong>Jerome Copes of Princess Anne</strong>, arrested 1-17-14 for driving under the influence of alcohol, driving while impaired by alcohol, and driving while impaired by alcohol per-se. Copes was released to the Salisbury Police Department on unrelated charges. The arrest was the result of a traffic stop conducted by deputies in the area of Somerset Ave, and Mt. Vernon Rd. Deputies stopped Copes while riding a bicycle the wrong side of the roadway, and a headlight violation. On May 1, 2014, along with a previous DUI arrest on Oct. 31, 2013 was on the docket in Somerset County District Court and Copes entered into a plea deal with States Attorney Daniel W. Powell who allowed the case to be put on the Stet Docket.</p>
