<h3>Brig Unicorn Not Salvageable</h3>
<p><em><strong>From St. Lucia Times</strong> </em>&#8212; 06/01/2014 &#8212; The Saint Lucian pirate ship which was featured in several Hollywood movies including &#8220;Pirates of the Caribbean&#8221; may not be salvageable, a top Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Coast Guard official has told Saint Lucia Times.</p>
<p>“Given the depth of water in which it sank I doubt that is possible,” Lieutenant Ralphie Ragguette told the Times via telephone.</p>
<p>Raguette said he believed the vessel was very old and suggested that possible structural problems may have contributed to the boat sinking, although he admitted that he had received no information directly from the crew.</p>
<p>“They were going to the dockyard for a reason,” the Coast Guard Official said.</p>
<p>The Brig Unicorn sank off the Coast of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines on Friday morning, forcing Captain Sam Alleyne and nine crew members to abandon the ship and seek refuge in a life raft.</p>
<p>A member of the crew who spoke briefly to the Times last night via telephone said the men were in “good spirits”.</p>
<p>Lieutenant Raguette said when the Vincentian Coast Guard was alerted that the Brig Unicorn was in trouble and went to its assistance, by that time the crew had already abandoned the vessel.</p>
<p>He disclosed that the ten men on board were in “good health”, and were taken to the Coast Guard base.</p>
<p>According to Ragguette, the owner of the vessel flew to Saint Vincent to take care of the men, who are now at a hotel on the Island.</p>
