<p>October 22&comma; 1921 &&num;8211&semi; August 22&comma; 2013 Services&colon; Patuxent Presbyterian Church Friday&comma; August 30&comma; 2013 4&colon;00 PM Memorial Service Doris Margaret Darrah&comma; 91 of Charlotte Hall&comma; MD died August 22&comma; 2013 at the Charlotte Hall Veterans Home&comma; Charlotte Hall&comma; MD&period; Born October 22&comma; 1921 in Saranac Lake&comma; New York&comma; she is the daughter of the late John Charles Darrah and Ila Dennevera Hall Darrah&period; In 1940&comma; Doris graduated from Saranac Lake High School&comma; Saranac Lake&comma; NY&period; On February 16&comma; 1943&comma; Doris enlisted in the Woman&&num;8217&semi;s Army Corp &lpar;WAC&rpar; where she proudly served her country until her honorable discharge in September 1947&period; She completed basic training at Fort Oglethorpe&comma; GA&period; She attended administrative school in Richmond&comma; VA before being assigned to Tinker Field&comma; OK and then Newark&comma; NJ&period; She was discharged at Fort Dix&comma; NJ&period; Doris received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics in 1949 and her Master&&num;8217&semi;s in Education in 1950&comma; both at St&period; Lawrence University in Canton&comma; NY&period; Doris was employed by the Board of National Missions of the Presbyterian Church as a teacher for Mary Holmes Junior College in West Point&comma; MS from 1951 to 1957&period; Then she moved to Maryland where she taught math from 1959 to 1965 at Hancock High School in Hancock&comma; MD&period; She continued teaching math from 1965 until her retirement in 1982 at Esperanza Middle School&comma; California&comma; MD&period; Upon retirement she volunteered for the St&period; Mary&&num;8217&semi;s County Public Schools&comma; on the elementary level&comma; until 2001&period; She also tutored students for many years after school and during summer months&period; Doris dedicated her life to teaching children to understand and love math&period; She developed many math games to help them more quickly learn math and to show that learning could be fun&period; Doris is survived by her sister&comma; Barbara Darrah of Saranac Lake&comma; NY&comma; and many friends&period; In addition to her parents&comma; she is preceded in death by her sisters&comma; Muriel Waterstraat&comma; Helen Pond&comma; Marion Darrah&comma; and Norma Stevens&semi; and her brothers&comma; Philip Darrah&comma; Donald Darrah and James Darrah&period; A Memorial Service will be celebrated by Rev&period; Mike Jones on Friday&comma; August 30&comma; 2013 at 4&colon;00 p&period;m&period; at Patuxent Presbyterian Church&comma; 23421 Kingston Creek Road&comma; California&comma; MD 20619&period; Interment will be held at a later date in New York&period; In lieu of flowers&comma; memorial contributions may be made to Patuxent Presbyterian Church&comma; 23421 Kingston Creek Road&comma; California&comma; MD 20619&period; Condolences to the family may be made at www&period;brinsfieldfuneral&period;com&period; Arrangements by the Brinsfield Funeral Home&comma; P&period;A&period;&comma; Leonardtown&comma; MD<br &sol;>&NewLine;<a href&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;www&period;the-chesapeake&period;com&sol;&sol;wp-content&sol;uploads&sol;2013&sol;08&sol;Doris-Darrah-obit&period;jpg"><img src&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;www&period;the-chesapeake&period;com&sol;&sol;wp-content&sol;uploads&sol;2013&sol;08&sol;Doris-Darrah-obit-150x150&period;jpg" alt&equals;"" title&equals;"Doris Darrah obit" width&equals;"150" height&equals;"150" class&equals;"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-1855" &sol;><&sol;a><&sol;p>&NewLine;
