Samuel Cooper charged with July 1, 2017, murder of Lewis Cody Dorsey.  Police Spokesman T. J. Smith: “…this was a targeted incident… Dorsey was not the intended target. Cooper is in custody now on another crime and will be served with a warrant for murder later today (on July 17, 2017).  Chief Smith: “we know these suspects are involved in other crimes. We are working to get them off the streets. They were involved in carjackings. They were targeting this vehicle, this was not a random crime on anyone who pulled up to that gas station. Unfortunately, Cody Dorsey was in the car at that time.”

Northeast District Shooting Investigation

BALTIMORE, MD. — Baltimore City Police report yet another would-be killer who doesn’t have any training with a handgun other than by watching Gangsta movies on Netflix only wounding his target. On July 17, 2017, at approximately 12:09 a.m., Northeast District Patrol officers received a call for a shooting in the 4900 block of Greencrest Road.

Upon officer’s arrival, they located a 19-year-old male suffering from gunshot wounds to the arm and leg.

The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

Detectives are asking anyone with information to contact Citywide Shooting detectives at 410-396-2221 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7lockup.

Western District Shooting Investigation

On July 16, 2017, at approximately 10:47 p.m., Western District patrol officers responded to the 2800 block of Woodbrook Avenue for a report of a shooting.

Upon officers arrival, they located a 17-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound to the collarbone.

The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

Detectives learned that the shooting actually took place in the 2500 block of Woodbrook Avenue.

Central District Shooting Investigation

On July 16, 2017, at approximately 9:37 p.m., Citywide Shooting detectives were in an area hospital checking on the status of a victim from a previous shooting when they were alerted of a walk-in shooting victim.

The victim, a 22-year-old male, with gunshot wounds to the chest, was immediately taken into surgery.

The victim is currently listed in critical condition.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim had driven himself to the hospital for treatment.

Due to the victim’s condition, detectives were unable to find out where the shooting occurred.

Shooting Investigation — Southern District

On July 16, 2017, at approximately 5:45 pm, officers were called to the 600 block of Cherry Hill Road for a report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found an adult male with gunshot wounds to his body. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

Investigators believe the victim was outside, in the 600 block of Cherry Hill Road, when he was shot by an unknown suspect. The suspect then left the scene.

Detectives from the Citywide Shooting Unit are investigating this incident. Anyone with information is asked to call Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7Lockup.

Western District

Man arrested with a loaded handgun

On July 15, 2017, at approximately 7:30 pm, officers were on patrol in the 2400 block of Pennsylvania Avenue. The officers pulled over a vehicle for a traffic violation.

During the traffic stop, officers recovered a loaded handgun from inside the vehicle. The driver of the car was arrested at the scene.

27-year old Matthew Emerson, of the 1500 block of Druidhill Avenue, was transported to the Central Booking and Intake Facility.
