The driver, Gerson C. Perez, attempted to swerve to lane #1 to avoid a collision with Alvarado’s vehicle.  Perez’s vehicle struck the rear left side of Alvarado’s semi-trailer.
The impact caused the semi-trailer to compromise the passenger compartment of the Ford along the front right of the vehicle.  Alvarado then brought his vehicle to a stop.  EMS pronounced  Perez’s passenger, Nilton Eli Castillo Perez, 35, of Church Hill, Md., deceased at the scene.
