MURDER USA Fairfax Detectives Investigating a Homicide; Henock G. Yohannes Beaten to Death – Woman found dead leaning against tree in back yard nearby the next day

SPRINGFIELD, VA.  – Fairfax County Police reports that officers were called around 8:15 p.m. on December 22, 2016, for a report of a 22 year-old-man found deceased inside his home in the 6400 block of Blarney Stone Court, in Springfield. At the dawn of the next day, police were called to another home a short distance away when a resident awoke to find a woman leaning against a tree in his backyard. The man didn’t see the woman moving and didn’t know her, so police say he called them to figure out who she was and why she was in his yard. Police arrived and reported she was deceased. A police spokeswoman told a televised briefing that the woman and the Henock G. Yohannes, who was murdered the prior day, knew each other but declined any further details.

The man didn’t see the woman moving and didn’t know her, so police say he called them to figure out who she was and why she was in his yard. Police arrived and reported she was deceased. An investigation determined the man found dead on Dec. 22, 2016, had apparent trauma to the upper body. Major Crimes and Crime Scene detectives responded and are investigating the circumstances surrounding this incident. 

The victim has been identified as Henok G. Yohannes. Victim Services Specialists are providing support to the family.

Police say that the death of Yohannes has now been ruled a homicide.
