Two armed robberies of stores in two days in Sin City

LEXINGTON PARK, MD. – Two days, two armed robberies and in neither robbery did St. Mary’s Sheriff Tim Cameron release video or photos from the robberies or provide a description of the suspect. A description of an armed robber or photo is typically used to help solicit leads and tips from the public and capture a criminal.

These latest robberies took place after an armed robbery of the Family Dollar across the street from the Papa Johns.  Sheriff Cameron established a special team of deputies two years ago to escort hookers and hobos off the streets in Lexington Park to the Hotel St. Mary’s. 

Cameron reports that on Oct. 20, 2015 the Sign of the Whale liquors was robbed at gunpoint and , at 11:18 p.m. St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies responded to the Sign of the Whale on Three Notch Road (Rt. 235), one block from the main gate (gate 2) of the Patuxent River Naval Air Station) in Lexington Park, for the report of an armed robbery.

Upon arrival, deputies determined one suspect armed with an handgun, demanded money from the clerk. The suspect fled the business on foot. 

Cameron says that on October 22, 2015, at approximately 12:30 a.m., St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies responded to the Papa John’s Pizza two blocks from Pax River NAS on Great Mills Road in Lexington Park, for the report of an armed robbery.

Upon arrival, deputies determined one suspect armed with an handgun, demanded money from the business as well as two delivery drivers. The suspect fled the business on foot.

Detectives from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division responded and assumed the investigation.
