Charles Lambert of Colonial Beach killed on his Harley by pickup driver Billy Blevins

Westmoreland County-   Virginia State Police report that a Colonial Beach man died from injuries sustained in a crash on Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2015, after the motorcycle he was riding was sideswiped by another vehicle.  The crash occurred at 8:47 p.m., Route 621 (Nomini Grove Road) 1/10 mile east of Route 673 (Cedar Field Road).

Virginia State Police Trooper J. S. Snyder is investigating the crash.

A 1991 Chevrolet pickup was travelling east of Route 621 when it crossed the centerline and struck a 2005 Harley-Davison motorcycle that was travelling west of Route 621.

The driver of the 1991 Chevrolet, Billy J. Blevins, 30, Warsaw, Virginia had minor injuries but was not transported to the hospital; he was wearing a seatbelt. The operator of the motorcycle Charles M. Lambert, 54 of Colonial Beach, Virginia died at the scene; he was wearing a helmet. A passenger on the motorcycle Rebecca B. Thrift, 52 of Colonial Beach, Virginia was transported to MCV Hospital via Med-Flight for serious injuries; she was wearing a helmet.

The Virginia State Police First Division Crash Reconstruction Team is assisting with the crash which remains under investigation.
