DUI DWI and high speed write death notice for Keith M. Harris

Bridgeville, DEL.  – Delaware State Police report that a Bridgeville man has died from the injuries he sustained in a motorcycle crash that occurred late on June 20, 2015.

The Chesapeake Today June front pageThe incident was reported at 10:28 p.m. on Saturday June 20, 2015 as Keith M. Harris, 55, of Bridgeville, was operating a 2002 Suzuki 1400 motorcycle southbound on Coverdale Road, just south of Seashore Highway (SR18/404). 

Police say that as Harris was attempting to negotiate a slight right curve at an apparent high rate of speed, he drove into the northbound lane and then off the east side of the roadway in order to avoid an on-coming vehicle traveling northbound.  The motorcycle then struck a bush and ejected Harris onto the ground.

Keith Harris, who was not wearing a helmet, was transported by EMS to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing their investigation into this incident.  Alcohol and speed appear to be contributing factors in this case.  Coverdale Road was closed for approximately two and a half hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
