Maryland State Police Probe Sudden Death of John Becker

(KNOXVILLE, MD) – Maryland State Police criminal investigators have positively identified a Frederick County man found dead in his home yesterday and are continuing their investigation into his death.

The deceased man is identified as John D. Becker, 45, of the 800-block of Jefferson Pike, Knoxville, Md. The cause and manner of his death have not been determined. Investigators hope an autopsy to be conducted at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore will provide additional information.

No cause of death was immediately obvious to investigators. No one has been arrested or charged with any crimes at this time.

At about 7:30 a.m. yesterday, Maryland State Police troopers from the Frederick Barrack were dispatched to assist emergency medical personnel who responded to a medical call at Becker’s residence. Troopers found a male, later identified as Becker, lying in the living room of the home. Emergency medical services personnel pronounced the man deceased.

An adult female and male were also found at the home. The female appeared hysterical and was transported by ambulance to a hospital for an evaluation. The adult male was transported to the Frederick Barrack where he was interviewed by investigators.

Investigators have now identified the female as Becker’s girlfriend and the male as the cousin of the female. All three lived together in the single family rancher style home. The female remains hospitalized. The male was not held after being interviewed last night.

The residence was processed by State Police crime scene technicians yesterday after investigators obtained a search warrant. They have found no calls for service at the home for domestic violence related issues.
