Police identified the deceased in the Reston robbery attempt as Rashad Kejuan Daye, 24 of the Herndon area. Daye was one of the visitors to the Stoneview Square apartment on Sunday afternoon.

Two men were charged with attempted robbery and used of firearm in commission of a felony; Eddie Rodriquez, 22, of Woodbridge and Dominique May, 18 of Reston.

The investigation is continuing and additional charges may be placed in the case as detectives proceed.

Detectives have determined that the incident that took place in the 11600 block of Stoneview Square in Reston on Sunday, May 17 was not a home invasion as initially reported. Subsequent investigation has led detectives to believe the situation was apparently a robbery attempt that led to an altercation and shooting, resulting in the death of a 24-year-old man that was in the apartment.  Detectives are actively investigating the incident; additional information will be forthcoming.

RESTON, VIRGINIA.  Broad daylight and a peaceful Sunday afternoon are no deterrent to the criminals of the wild and wooly Washington Metro Area who kill and rob faster than news reports can be gathered.  This latest shoot-em-up took place in the sedate area of Reston, report police, leaving one man dead.

Detectives are investigating a death that occurred in the 11600 block of Stoneview Square in Reston on Sunday, May 17 at around 2:50 p.m. Police have identified the deceased as a 24-year-old Herndon/Reston area man. Next of kin have not been contacted.

Initial reports indicated that five men entered an apartment, engaged in some sort of disagreement and one was shot, another was wounded, and others fled the scene. There were at least two men at home in the apartment; neither were injured. Subsequent investigation revealed that the men were known to each other and that the incident was not characterized as “random.”  Detectives are still investigating motives for the incident.

Initially, police believed that two men fled the scene; police are still looking for suspects and information related to the crime, however do not believe there is any broader public safety threat to the community in relation to this case. Weapons believed to be involved in the crime were recovered on scene.
