Snow plow killed bicyclist in early morning crash

Virginia State Police BeatBICYCLIST STRUCK AND KILLED IN HENRICO

HENRICO CO., Va. – A Henrico County bicyclist died this morning (February 18) after colliding with a snow plow.  The crash occurred at approximately 5:38 a.m., on Route 1 northbound, 200 feet south of Virginia Center Parkway.

Virginia State Police Trooper R. D. Andrews is investigating the crash.

The trooper’s investigation revealed that a 2005 International truck was traveling north on Route 1 plowing snow when it collided with a bicyclist traveling north in the right travel lane.

The driver of the truck, Bradley W. Stenroos, 37, of Chester, Va., was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured. The truck is owned by and Stenroos is an employee of the Virginia Department of Transportation.

The bicyclist, Fedora M. Henderson, 31, of Henrico, Va., was transported to VCU Medical Center, where she died later Wednesday morning.

The crash, which has been ruled as weather-related, remains under investigation.
