CROFTON, MD. — No one at this knife-fight had a gun!
Anne Arundel Police report that they have arrested Jason Eric Thayer for a murder which took place on September 19, 2014. Police say that at approximately 9:40 a.m. officers from the Anne Arundel County Police Western District responded to a report of a stabbing at 1575 Underwood Road in Crofton, Maryland.
Upon arrival, officers located a male victim, later identified as Adam Ussery, 25, inside of the home suffering from an apparent stab wound to the upper body. Paramedics arrived and Ussery was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Police report that their investigation revealed that Ussery was a resident of the home. At approximately 9:25 a.m., the suspect, Jason Thayer and two other individuals arrived at the location in a gold Toyota Camry. The two other individuals became involved in an argument with another person who was at the property. Ussery, who was inside of the home at the time of this argument, came out and was confronted by Thayer.
The two became engaged in a verbal altercation that quickly escalated into a physical altercation in which Ussery was struck in the face. Ussery went back into his home and reemerged with a knife in his hand. The suspect Thayer pulled out a knife and after a brief argument; Thayer stabbed Ussery in the upper body. Ussery was able to walk back into the house where another person who was at the property called 911.
Thayer and the two individuals that he came to the home with then got into the vehicle and left the area. Officers arrived and immediately issued a lookout for the vehicle and the suspects. Officers located the vehicle in the area of Crownsville Rd. near Interstate 97 shortly there afterwards. With the assistance of aviation, K-9, special operations and patrol officers, they were able to locate the suspect Thayer in the area of Crownsville Rd. not far from where the vehicle was stopped.
All three persons were detained and transported to the Criminal Investigations Division. After multiple interviews, charges were filed against the suspect, Jason Eric Thayer. The other two persons were released without charges.
It is important to note that all of these people knew one another. There is no ongoing community threat in reference to this situation.

Charged with 1st and 2nd degree murder, Assault With A Deadly Weapon, and 1st and 2nd Degree Assault.
