Southern Maryland Police Beat

LEONARDTOWN, MD. – On Saturday, August 9, 2014 at 5:07 pm, Tpr A. Oyler initiated a traffic stop on a black passenger vehicle for a minor traffic violation.  The driver, Milton R. Richardson, 35, of Washington, DC, refused to provide identification and began reaching to the side of his body with his right hand.

For officer safety, Tpr. Oyler asked Richardson to step out of the vehicle and place his hands on the car.  He refused, and a brief struggle ensued.

During the struggle, Tpr. Oyler was injured, requiring medical attention.  Richardson was then handcuffed and arrested for failing to obey a Lawful Order, Resisting Arrest, and Second Degree Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer.

Richardson was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

            Andrew Hall Thompson, 49, of California, served on 8/7/2014 at 2:59 pm for Failure to Appear in Court.

Jesse Richard Johnson, 3rd, 27, of Mechanicsville, served on 8/8/2014 at 10:20 pm for Failure to Appear in Court.
