Alleged Dirtbag Caught with Stolen Dirtbike

LEXINGTON PARK, MD. (September 5, 2013) St. Mary’s Sheriff Tim Cameron reports another successful operation by his Lexington Park COPS Unit and the arrest of a man charged with the theft of a dirt bike from an outdoor shed.
“We have had quite a few incidents of theft of bikes from the area and had been working leads with the help of the community,” Cameron told THE CHESAPEAKE. “I am really proud of the hard work of our officers in the COPS Unit and appreciate the assistance of the community.”
Cameron said it was important to get the story of this unit told to the public in order to assure residents that crimes are getting the attention of his agency and criminals will be apprehended.
“We are always stretched for sufficient manpower and the eyes and ears of the public are invaluable,” said Cameron.
Police report that on September 4, 2013, members of the Lexington Park COPS Unit were conducting patrols of the Patuxent Homes Neighborhood when Deputy Krum observed Tracy Otis Braswell, 18, of Lexington Park, operating a dirt bike illegally on the roadway.
Police say that Braswell attempted to elude Deputy Krum and eventually, was apprehended after a short foot chase. Further investigation revealed the dirt bike had been stolen during a burglary of a residential storage shed in August.

Braswell was charged with 2nd Degree Burglary, Theft and numerous traffic offenses.
