St. Mary’s cops crack down on druggies and dealers; arrests include school system employee

LEONARDTOWN (Sept. 3, 2013) — Several residents of St. Mary’s County found themselves arranging for bail and attorneys in recent days. According to Captain Daniel Alioto of the Sheriff’s Vice & Narco Squad, his detectives rounded up the following suspects:

Christopher Cote Johnson
In response to citizens’ complaints of possible drug activity in the parking lots of several specific businesses of St. Mary’s County, detectives conducted a drug enforcement operation.

During the operation detectives observed a drug transaction between suspects Christopher Cote Johnson, 26, of Mechanicsville and James Daniel Seifert, 21, of Lexington Park. Both suspects were detained and the investigation determined that Seifert had allegedly supplied Johnson with a quantity of marijuana. Marijuana, related paraphernalia and cellular phones were among some of the items seized.

Paul Proctor
A Hollywood home was targeted for drug distribution which led to the execution of a search and seizure warrant. Once inside the home detectives found property that was believed to have been stolen from the Board of Education. Detectives worked with Board of Education staff and confirmed the status of the property and identified the suspect as an employee. That employee was identified as Paul Lamont Proctor, 49. Marijuana belonging to Suspect Proctor was also recovered. Suspect Proctor was indicted and charged with “Theft under $10,000” and “Possession of Marijuana”.

Linwood Scayles Jr.
Vice/Narcotics detectives identified Linwood Erwin Scayles Jr. and another suspect as distributors of cocaine throughout St. Mary’s County. Several undercover purchases of cocaine were conducted and the case was presented to the Grand Jury for St. Mary’s County. Arrest warrants were issued and Scayles was subsequently arrested for multiple counts of “Distribution of Cocaine” and “Conspiring to Distribute Cocaine”. He was originally held without bond.
