Check out this story on the Wall Street Journal before deciding to take a trip on a small ship.  Imagine being told the ship you are on which is docked overnight has to turn off the air conditioning due to local laws?  How about the chair hogs conducting warfare against the chair hogs in your party for the duration of the pricey cruise.
This ship is the Wind Spirit of Windstar Cruises, has but one suite, no inside cabins and sails with 148 passengers.  Four decks, a casino and plenty of big ship amenities but still able to enter small ports.  The kicker is that you have fly to its port for the cruise, which means flying to St. Martin or other ports in the Caribbean. But still deals on this can be had at various cruise agencies.  In this photo the Wind Spirit is at port in St. Lucia.    THE CHESAPEAKE photo
